SCARLETT ORNAMENT COVER
Level of Difficulty – Beginner/Intermediate
Yarn – Coats Aunt Lydia’s Crochet Thread Fashion 3, size 1 Super Fine, 150 yds, 137 m, Color Red
Hook and Notions – Coats United Kingdom Milward 3.0 mm Bamboo hook
Christmas Ornament Glass Ball 3 inches (83 mm) diameter
Measurement – Laying flat finished Height 5 inches Width 4 ½ inches
Gauge – Not important
Ch = chain
Dc = double crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
Sc = single crochet
Tr = treble crochet
Tr2tog = treble 2 treble sts together
5 tr fan – 5 tr stitches in indicated stitch
Note – The Chain 5 at beginning of rounds counts as treble and chain 2. When joining into it join in 3rd chain.
CH 4; join to form ring
Rnd 1: CH 5 (counts as tr and ch 2), working in ring * tr, ch 2 *, repeat from * to * 9 times; join with slip stitch in 3rd chain of beginning ch 5. (10 tr, 10 ch-2 sps)
Rnd 2: Slip Stitch to ch 2 space, ch 5 (counts as 1st tr and ch 2), (tr, ch 2), 2 more time in same space, * tr, ch 2 * 3 times in each ch 2 space around; join with slip stitch in 3rd chain of beginning ch 5. (30 tr, 31 ch-2 sps)
Rnd 3: Slip Stitch to ch 2 sp, ch 5 (counts as tr and ch 2), * tr, sk tr, ch 2 * (work in ch 1 space of previous row), repeat from * to * around; join with slip stitch to 3rd chain of beginning chain 5. (31 tr, 31 ch 2 sps)
Rnd 4: Repeat Rnd 3 (31 tr, 31 ch 2 sps)
Rnd 5: Slip Stitch to ch 2 space, ch 3, tr in each ch 2 space around; join with slip stitch in top of beginning chain 3. (31 tr)
Rnd 6: CH 3 (counts as 1st tr), * tr2tog, tr in next stitch * repeat from * to * around; join with slip stitch in top of chain 3. (20 tr)
Rnd 7: CH 3 (counts as dc and ch 1), dc in same stitch, * dc, ch 1, dc * in each stitch around; join with a slip stitch in top of chain 3.
Rnd 8: CH 1 sc in same stitch, * skip next stitch, 5 tr fan in next stitch, skip next stitch, sc in next stitch,* repeat from * to * around; joining in first sc.
Fasten off and weave in ends
Leave 1 inch tail at beginning, Chain 40, fasten off leaving a 1 inch tail.
Weave through chain 1 spaces of round 7, insert ornament and pull tight and tie at hanger.
