Chap Stick Holder

A small, quick, and easy cozy to hold your chap stick, lip balm, or lip gloss. Attach a lanyard hook and it can be attached to a belt loop, key ring, or bag strap.
Yarn: Bernat Handicrafter Cotton #4 small amount. This one was made using Nautical Sand Dune.
Lying flat width 1 ½” X height front 2 ½” back with flap 4 ½”
BLO = back loop only
Ch/chs = chain/chains
Dec = decrease
Hdc = half double crochet
Sc = single crochet
Sl st = slip stitch
Sp/sps = space/spaces
St/sts = stitch/stitches
Reverse Single Crochet aka Crab Stitch – This is worked from left to right (or opposite direction) With right side of project facing you Chain 1, insert hook into next stitch to right, yarn over and pull through, (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops. Continue working * * until you have reached the end of project. Slip stitch into first chain 1 and fasten off, weave in ends.
Ch 1 at beginning of rnds does not count as st
Ch 2 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook join with sl st in first sc (5 sc)
Rnd 1: Ch 1 2 sc in same st as join, 2 sc in each st arount, join with sl st in first sc (10 sc)
Rnd 2: Working in BLO ch 1, hdc in same st as join, hdc in each st around, join with sl st in first hdc (10 hdc)
Rnd 3: ch 1 hdc in same st as join, hdc in each st around, join with sl st in first hdc (10 hdc)
Rnd 4 – 6: Repeat Rnd 3 (10 hdc)
Rnd 7: ch 1 hdc in same st as join, hdc in next 3 st, ch 4 sk1 st, hdc next 6 sts, join with sl st in first hdc (9 hdc)
Row 1: ch 1 turn hdc in same st as chain and next 4 sts, ch 1 turn (5 hdc)
Row 2: hdc in same st as chain and next 4 sts, ch 1 turn (5 hdc)
Row 3: hdc in same st as chain and next hdc, hdc dec, hdc in last st, ch 1 turn (4 hdc)
Row 4: hdc in same st as chain, hdc dec, hdc in last st, ch 1(3 hdc)
Complete the crab stitch around the top joining with a slip st.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
