Child’s Ribbon Lace Purse

This Child’s Ribbon Lace Purse is sure to please any little girl. It is easy to make as it uses basic crochet stitches. Example was made using a Brittany H hook, Red Heart Super Saver in Soft Navy and laced with white ribbon. The ribbon can be changed out to match outfits. Can be made in any color, therefore several can be made.
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver, worsted weight #4, 7oz/198mg/364 yds/333m, used approximately 100 to 150 yds
Hook: Brittany H
2 yds of 3/16 to 1/2 inch ribbon color of choice
Laying flat including trim height 11 inches width 10 inches
Ch/chs = chain/chains
Dc = double crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
Sc = single crochet
Sl st = slip stitch
Sp/sps = space/spaces
St/sts = stitch/stitches
Reverse Single Crochet aka Crab Stitch
This is worked from left to right (or opposite direction)
With right side of project facing you Chain 1, * insert hook into next stitch to right, yarn over and pull through, (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops *. Continue working * to * until you have reached the end of project. Slip stitch into first chain 1 and fasten off, weave in ends.
Ch 2 at ends of rows counts as first hdc of next row.
When crocheting 2 pieces together do not catch the top of the back piece where the crab stitch is worked.
Lace ribbon through ch 1 sp of trim row 2
Purse Body (Make 2 front and back)
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and across, ch 2 turn (20 sc)
Row 2: hdc in each st across, ch 2 turn (20 hdc)
Rows 3-16: Repeat row 2 (20 hdc)
Fasten off 1st one and make 2nd or back piece
DO NOT fasten off back piece work crab st across the top, fasten off
Pin the two pieces together with right sides facing out and the back piece away from you. Starting at the top left corner attach yarn through both pieces.
Row 1: ch 1 and sc in same sp, place 1sc in end of each row to bottom corner, place 3 sc in corner space, sc across the bottom, 3 sc in corner, sc up ends of rows to top corner, place 3 sc in corner st, sc in each st across top front piece, (BE SURE NOT TO CATCH THE BACK PIECE), join with sl st in 1st sc
Row 2: ch 3 (counts as hdc and ch 1), sk 1 st, * hdc in next st, ch 1, sk 1 st, * repeat from * to * around, join with sl st in 2nd ch of beginning ch 3
Row 3: sl st to 1st ch 1 sp, sc in sp, * (hdc, 5 dc, hdc) in next ch 1 sp, sc in next ch 1 sp, * repeat from * to * around, join with sl st in 1st sc
Fasten off and weave in ends
Attach yarn to right side (back of front piece) of purse
Row 1: ch 36 join with sl st to left side of front back piece
Row 2: ch 2, hdc in each st across (36 hdc)
Row 3: Repeat row 2
Row 4: sl st into top of back ch 1 and hdc in each st across, sl st into top of back, fasten off and weave in ends
Fasten off and Weave in Ends!
