  • Red Heart Cream de la Cream Worsted Weight 100 % cotton, 2.5 oz, 70.9 g, 125 yds I used a small amount of #0205 Golden Yellow, #0905 Really Red, #0649 Forest

Hook and Notions

  • Hook Size: H (5mm)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Measurement

  • 4 ½ inches diameter without hanger

  • Not important

Abbreviations

  • Ch/chs = chain/chains
  • Hdc = half double crochet
  • Sc = single crochet
  • Sp/sps = space/spaces
  • St/sts = stitch/stitches

Pattern Notes

  • Chain 1 at beginning of rounds does not count as a stitch

Special Stitches

  • Reverse Single Crochet aka Crab Stitch: This is worked from left to right (or opposite direction) With right side of project facing you Chain 1, * insert hook into next stitch to right, yarn over and pull through, (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops. * Continue working from * to * until you have reached the end of project. Slip stitch into first chain 1 and fasten off, weave in ends.

Instructions

Round 1: Chain 2, work 6 sc in the 2nd chain from the hook; join with a slip stitch in 1st sc. (6sc)
Round 2: Chain 1, work 2 sc in the same stitch as join and in each stitch around; join with a slip stitch in the 1st sc. (12 sc)
Round 3: Chain 1, sc in the same stitch as join, * work 2 sc in the next stitch. sc in the next stitch, * repeat from * to * around; join with a slip stitch in the 1st sc. (18 sc)
Round 4: Chain 1, hdc in the same stitch as the join, * work 2 hdc in the next stitch, hdc in the next stitch, * repeat from * to * around; join with a slip stitch in the 1st hdc. (27 hdc)
Round 5: Chain 1, work 2 hdc in the same stitch as the join, * hdc in the next stitch, work 2 hdc in the next stitch, * repeat from * to * around; join with a slip stitch in the 1st hdc. (41 hdc)
Round 6: Chain 1, hdc in the same stitch as the join and in each stitch around, join with a slip stitch in the 1st hdc. (41 hdc)
Round 7: Work reverse single crochet in stitch around; join with a slip stitch in the top of the 1st sc. (41 rsc)

Hanger Tab
Attach golden yellow alongside of Round 7
Row 1: Chain 1, sc in same space and in the next 4 stitches. Turn (5 sc)
Row 2: Chain 1, sc in the same stitch as the chain and in each stitch across. Turn (5 sc)
Rows 3–5: Repeat row 2
Fasten off and weave in ends.

    Betty Prewitt Here is one I made…plan to make 3 reds and 3 greens as a set…. I really like this pattern. It is quick, easy, and makes for a great coaster as the stitches are good and tight but not enough to distort the stitching. Thanks American Crochet
