Level of Difficulty – Intermediate
Yarn – Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton, 100% Mercerized Cotton, 3.5 ozs/186 yds/100 g/170 m, used approximately 400 yds
Hook and Notions – Size Hook: G/6 (4.0 mm), scissors, blunt needle to weave in ends
Measurement – 9-inches wide (bottom to top of shell rows) and 72-inches long
Gauge – Pattern (Shell, diamond, shell, chain 7) once = 6 inches; 7 rows = 4 inches
Abbreviations
Ch/chs = chain/chains
Dc = double crochet
Sc = single crochet
Sl st = slip stitch
Sp = space
Special Stitches
Shell – Work (2 double crochet, chain 2, 2 double crochet) in indicated stitch or space
Diamond – Chain 3(see pattern notes), turn, double crochet in indicated 5 stitches, chain 3 turn, double crochet in each of next 4 stitches and top of beginning chain 3
Notes
Chain 3 at beginning of rows counts as 1st dc throughout unless otherwise stated.
Chain 5 at beginning of rows counts as beginning dc and chain 2 space.
On Row 1 the skip 11 chains counts as the 2 chains after shell and skip 9 chains for chain 9.

Row 1: Work shell in the 5th chain (see pattern notes) from the hook,
skip the next 2 chains,
* dc in the next 7 stitches,
skip the next 2 chains, work shell in the next chain, chain 9,
skip the next 11 chains (see pattern notes),
work shell in the next chain, skip 2 chains. *
Repeat from * to * across, dc in the last chain.
Turn (24 shells, 11 chains 9 spaces, 11 dc groups)
Row 2: Chain 5 (see pattern notes),
* work shell in the chain 2 space of the previous shell,
chain 5, work sc in the 5th chain of previous chain 9 space,
work diamond (see pattern notes) across the chain 5 space just made,
work shell in the chain 2 space of the previous shell,
chain 7, skip 7 dc, *
repeat from * to * across,
work shell in the chain 2 space of the last shell,
dc in the 3rd chain of the beginning chain 5. Turn (11 diamonds, 24 shells, 11 dc groups)
Row 3: Chain 5,
