Meet Candy of Meladora’s Creations
I love getting to visit Meladora’s Creations and checking out her site and what she’s been up to lately. Candy, the owner, is extremely talented, very knowledgeable, generous, honest, and fun to talk too. She is always willing to share her knowledge with others, shares other crochet designer’s projects, and much more.
Tell me a little something about your personal life ~ kids, family, pets, etc.
Hi I’m Candy from Meladora’s Creations and I design crochet patterns and film them on You tube. I am a mother of two, girl 7, boy 5. I live in Israel presently, but I was born and raised in Oklahoma. How did I end up in Israel you may ask? Well I met a man on an online game and we became friends. I didn’t know at the time he lived in Israel! Through time we fell in love and I came out to Israel to give love a shot. Long story short, we have two kids now, but from the lack of knowing how to speak Hebrew, I had to find a way to help take care of our kids. After sharing a few of my crochet designs online and started getting requests to do a video tutorials on them. I was nervous but finally broke down and tried it.
How long have you been crocheting?
I thank my Mom for teaching me how to crochet when I was 5. Since then I learned by watching YouTube videos and just messing around with yarn and discovering new stitches and trying new yarn and patterns I have never tried before. Always pushing myself.
What are your favorite items to make?
My favorite pattern so far I really liked doing is my pineapple stitch shawl. Just because it seemed really hard but when you begin it you realize it’s not as complicated as it looks! I take you step by step if you want to check it out
I’ve been upgrading my equipment as I go along, so some of my older videos are being redone. I am working on redoing a few this month mixed with new content for the upcoming winter.
What would be the one piece of advice you would give to a person setting up their own blog?
I would tell them to start small and really know what your teaching step by step so you can teach others. Don’t skip a step because you are unsure, keep working on it until you are sure and make it as simple as you can so it can be easy to follow. Because viewers can not stop you and ask you questions. You have to anticipate the questions and problems and explain fully. So don’t rush, be patient, do your research.
