Meet Debi of Dearest Debi
I enjoy visiting Dearest Debi and seeing what she’s been working on. Debi, the owner, is extremely talented, full of knowledge, kind, friendly, and fun to talk to. She is very creative, always willing to share her knowledge with others, share other crochet designer’s projects, and much more. I love how honest and to the point she can be and working with her is always fun.
Tell me a little something about your personal life ~ kids, family, pets, etc.
I am a single mom of 3, we are a pretty crafty family and love to play board games.
How long have you been crocheting?
I learned the basics of crochet when I was little then picked it back up in January of 2011
How long have you been blogging? Why did you start blogging?
I had started making my own items but never thought to write them down let alone share my work until the summer of 2012 when I met Corina from Stitch11. She was blogging basic patterns and I thought Hey, I can do that and that’s where my blogging adventure began.
What is your favorite thing about crocheting and/or blogging?
I’d rather just crochet some days, it’s quite a bit of work to blog but I love being able to share my work with others so that they too have a way to be creative. The best reward has been when others share their finished work with me.
What are your favorite items to make?
Bonnets! but I enjoy making all kinds of things.
What are your favorite yarns (brands or types to work with?
I love yarn! I don’t really have any favourites as I like to use all kinds of yarn.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
If you want to know what to do next, just look around you. The clues are there.
What is your favorite item on your blog at the moment?
My Tunisian Roses. There’s a story behind the roses and they are really fun to work up. Even though they are Tunisian crochet the patterns are written like regular crochet making them easy for any competent crocheter to hook up. http://dearestdebi.com/tunisian-crochet-roses
What would be the one piece of advice you would give to a person setting up their own blog?
Take a blogging course or even a website design course. Knowing basic HTML and coding is a huge bonus. With the right knowledge it will help any beginner get started in the right direction.
How do fellow bloggers get their patterns featured on your sites?
I offer patterns free, you can have a download link sent to your email or you can like or share my links on social media and a download will automatically begin.
