Meet Lorene of Cre8tion Crochet
I love stopping by Cre8tion Crochet and browsing through her site and checking out what she’s been up to lately. I always leave her site with more inspiration than I had before stopping by. Lorene, the owner, is extremely talented, full of knowledge, kind, an awesome friend, and always a delight to talk too. She is always willing to share her knowledge with others, she’s honest and to the point (which I absolutely appreciate), share other crochet designer’s projects, and much more.
Tell me a little something about your personal life ~ kids, family, pets, etc.
I live in coastal NC with my husband and three children. We don’t currently have any animals but we are looking into starting a small homestead with chickens, goats, pigs and even a cow.
How long have you been crocheting?
I’ve been crocheting regularly for the last 5 years. Prior to that, I’d pick up a hook and make a chain or a basic scarf (doing the stitches all wrong) every once in a while.
How long have you been blogging? Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging regularly in 2012, prior to that I started my blog a year and a half before that but never did much with it. I started blogging as a way to share my free patterns with my followers. I never dreamed it would grow into what it is now.
What are your favorite items to make?
I really enjoy making clothing, summer tops especially. I also really enjoy making cowls.
What is your favorite thing about crocheting and/or blogging?
My favorite thing about crocheting is the process of designing something, not the writing of the pattern per say, but the art of waving my stick around and seeing what I come up with. The blogging aspect isn’t quite as fun as the designing, but I enjoy the graphic element of it.
What are your favorite yarns (brands or types to work with?
It changes constantly but I prefer natural fibers to acrylics. I prefer working with #2 or #3 weight yarn, usually a cotton, silk, bamboo or wool blend.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Everywhere but mainly fashion. I like to flip through fashion magazines and see what tickles my fancy. Then I try to figure out a way to incorporate my favorite elements of that design into my work.
What is your favorite item on your blog at the moment?
Hmmm, now that’s a hard one; probably my Winter Waves Chevron Cowl. I designed it last year but it is still one of my favorites.
What would be the one piece of advice you would give to a person setting up their own blog?
Be prepared to put a lot of unpaid work into it and don’t give up!
How do fellow bloggers get their patterns featured on your sites?
If a blogger is interested in doing a guest blog post then the best way is to contact me by email at email@example.com and put “guest blogger” in the subject line.
