Meet Rhondda of Oombawka Design
I enjoy stopping by Oombawka Design and seeing what she’s been up to lately. Rhondda, the owner, is extremely talented, very knowledgeable, kind, honest, an amazing friend, and a joy to talk too. She is willing to share her knowledge with others, shares other crochet designer’s projects, help out however she can, and much more.
Rhondda Mol is a freelance Crochet Designer and a Blogger at Oombawka Design. She began crocheting regularly in 2001 and she has been designing professionally since 2012. Educated at Brock University, she holds a BA in Psychology and English. Her past work experience includes Customer Service Management and Insurance Claims Processing. She currently resides in Ontario, Canada with her husband and 2 children.
She has been crocheting for more than 14 years.
She has been blogging daily since July 1, 2013
She loves crocheting projects worked in the round, or in spirals, the most – hats and amigurumi are two of her favorite go-to-projects.
She loves crocheting and blogging. She loves being able to create designs other people want to crochet. The encouragement she receives from the people who reads her blog posts and tries her patterns makes her want to continue to create and share with the crochet community.
She loves working with cotton, cotton blends and soft acrylic yarns.
She tends to design her free crochet patterns using yarns which are easily available to her readers – such as Red Heart. Red Heart Yarn is available in both the U.S. and Canada. It is a Brand she tends to gravitate toward. She loves and trusts the fibers and the color ranges are fantastic. It makes it easier for other Crocheters to replicate a project using her Design, if they are able to use the same type of yarn as she used to create the project – this makes Red Heart Yarn her “go-to” yarn.
She gets her inspiration from everywhere. Inspiration can come to her at any time. She tries very hard to be present in her own life – to experience everything around her visually and through her other senses. The “openness” sparks her creativity and inspires her.
Her family and friends often request specific items and that also encourages her to come up with new designs.
Here are a few items that are currently her favorite and are on her blog
