Meet Sara of Posh Pooch Designs
I enjoy visiting Posh Pooch Designs and seeing what she’s been working on. Sara, the owner, is very talented, full of knowledge, kind, friendly, and fun to talk to. She is very talented, always willing to share her knowledge with others, share other crochet designer’s projects, and much more. I love how honest, helpful, fun and delightful she is.
I am a mom to 2 kids, and an Oma to 3 grandkids – who I love dearly.
A Little over 5 years ago, the kids were grown, and the house was empty, so I decided to get a rescue Chihuahua named Maximo.
I knew how to crochet and started designing sweaters and hats for him.
I was worried that he was lonely when I was gone, and got another Chihuahua. We named Rosie Bell.
As I continued to design Sweaters and things for my dogs, my friends saw them and wanted some for their dogs, too.
My son set me up a web page, my daughter set me up on face book and I began “Posh Pooch Designs”
People began to ask for my crochet patterns, as well, and my daughter suggested I start writing them down and selling them.
And so I did just that.
Writing, editing, taking pictures, editing pictures, testing, testing, testing…..Writing crochet patterns is a lot of work!
It has been fun and crazy, But I love That I get to do what I love and use my creative juices!
I Love what I do, and I Love that others love what I do!
I also love designing crochet items for people, and love knitting and anything yarny.
I learned to crochet when I was 15 from library books, I learn to knit at the same time. So About 35 years.
I have been blogging for about 4 years. I started blogging for fun, to meet other Crochet designers. I love it. And love the other “yarnies” I have met.
What are your favorite items to make?
My most favorite item to make is Dog sweaters and Dresses for my Chihuahuas.
What is your favorite thing about crocheting and or blogging?
My most favorite thing about crocheting is that I get to let my creative juices flow, and the yarn. I love yarn.
My most favorite thing about blogging is “meeting” people who love crochet and all things yarny like I do.
What are your favorite yarns (brands or types) to work with?
I would have to say that Red Heart Soft is my favorite yarn to work with, but I love all the different textures and colors of yarn.
Thick, thin, bumpy smooth, I love them all and the challenge of working with new yarns.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
We live in Colorado, South of Denver. I get so much of my inspiration from the Mountains, and scenery around us. “Purple Mountains, Majesty” is the truth! So much color and inspiration there.
What is your favorite item on your blog at the moment?
I’m glad you said “at the moment”, as it changes all the time. But Right now my Favorite is my “Sand and Sea Poncho” or my “ Scrap happy Poncho for Dogs or people” ! Both are great projects, and fun to make, and a very useful item.
What would be the one piece of advice you would give to a person setting up their own blog?
The best advice I can give to someone starting a new blog is to have fun and keep it drama free. Never bring any negativity to the blog, deal with issues thorough email. There will be issues, But make your Blog a fun and happy place that people will want to return to. Free patterns and the like draw them there, but you want them to return and feel welcome.
How do fellow bloggers get their patterns featured on your sites?
I love To do pattern reviews, although I do not have time for many. But basically if someone send me a link and asks, I will try to fit it in. Sometimes a pattern or item will catches my eye, and I just have to try it. Especially if it is a new technique I want to try.
