I entered a competition for young crocheters called Future Face of Crochet. The purpose of the competition was to bring young crocheters to the public eye. I had tested Rhelena’s Blossom Top and I really liked the design of the stitch. I chose to use this stitch for my shrug with a simple trim. I used Paton’s Lace Sequins in white and a Brittany H hook
Yarn: Paton’s Lace Sequins 3 oz/85 g/498 yds/455 m White
Hook: Brittany H

Lying flat after finishing: width 22 inches, height 9 ½ inches

Row1: v st in 3rd ch from hook (first sk chs counts as turning ch and first sc), * sk next ch, sc in next ch, ** sk next ch, v st in next ch, rep from * to * across ending at. ** (22 v-sts)
Row2: ch 4 (counts as first dc, and ch1 sp), * (sc, ch1) in ch 1 sp of v st, (dc, ch1) in next sc, * rep from * to * across working last (dc, ch 1) into turning ch of previous row, Last ch 1 made counts as turning ch and first sc for next row turn (44 ch 1 sps)
Row 3: * v-st in next sc, sc in dc * rep from * to * across; turn (22 v sts)
Row 4-56: Repeat rows 2 and 3 or until desired length before finishing
At the end of row 56 fold in half and line up with row 1. Measure and pin the 2 sides together from the outside edge in to for the arm openings, and try on to make sure it fits. I sewed 2 inches to form arm openings.
Fasten on at one arm opening of body and sc in each st and ch around putting 3 sc in join for arms. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten on at seam of one arm opening and sc around join with sl st to first sc. Repeat for other arm opening.
Happy Hooking and Enjoy!
