Emerald Isle Coaster

ST Patrick’s Day ~ is celebrated by the Irish and the Irish at heart on March 17th each year. It began as a religious feast day for the patron Saint of Ireland. It has developed into an international celebration of Irish culture with parades, dancing, special foods and a lot of green. If you are celebrating or decorating for this day, here is a quick and easy coaster to make. It is made using Peaches & Cream 4 ply Worsted Weight 100% cotton yarn, a Brittany H (5.0 mm) hook, and basic stithes.
Yarn: Peaches & Cream 4 ply Worsted Weight 100% cotton yarn 2.5 oz/70.9 g (approximately ½ oz) Color #62 Emerald Green
Hook: Brittany H/8 (5.0 mm)
Laying flat 5 ½ inches diameter
Ch/chs = chain/chains
Dc = double crochet
Sl st = slip stitch
Sp/sps = space/spaces
St/sts = stitch/stitches
Reverse Single Crochet aka Crab Stitch ~ This is worked from left to right (or opposite direction)
With right side of project facing you Chain 1, * insert hook into next stitch to right, yarn over and pull through, (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops *. Continue working * to * until you have reached the end of project. Slip stitch into first chain 1 and fasten off, weave in ends.
Worked in rounds
Ch 1 at beginning of rounds does not count as a stitch
Ch 4 join with sl st to for ring
Rnd 1: ch 1, 10 dc in ring, join with sl st to 1st dc (10 dc)
Rnd 2: ch 1, 2 dc in same st as ch and each st around; join with sl st to 1st dc (20 dc)
Rnd 3: ch 1,2 dc in same st as ch, dc in next st, * 2 dc in next st, dc in next sts * repeat from * to * around; join with sl st to 1st dc (30 dc)
Rnd 4: ch 1,2 dc in same st as ch, dc in next 2 sts, * 2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts * repeat from * to * around; join with sl st to 1st dc (40 dc)
Rnd 5: ch 1 crab stitch in each st around, join with sl st
Fasten off and weave in ends
