Hot Heads Beanie
By Mistie Bush
My daughter and I love wearing beanies and are always looking for new yarn to try out. Once I received Red Heart’s HEADS UP yarn, I immediately started thinking of what I could make with it. The more I looked at it and touched it I decided to make another beanie for my daughter. As you can tell she is happy to have another beanie and it’s in her favorite color!
Yarn: Red Heart HEADS UP #5 Bulky 3.5 oz ~ I used Bright Pink
8” x 10” ~ with 48 sts
Beg = beginning
Ch/chs = chain/chains
Dc = double crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
Sc = single crochet
Sl st = slip stitch
Sp/sps = space/spaces
St/sts = stitch/stitches
Reverse Single Crochet (aka~Crab Stitch): When you have completed your project and are ready for a finishing row or border you can do the reverse single crochet. This stitch is pretty distinctive; it looks ridged and makes a nice finishing option for crochet items. I personally love using this stitch for bag handles and baby things–it makes items sturdier. It looks great when worked as an edging using a contrasting or coordinating color.
This is worked from left to right (or opposite direction)
With right side of project facing you Chain 1, insert hook into next stitch to right, yarn over and pull through, (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops. Continue working * * until you have reached the end of project. Slip stitch into first chain 1 and fasten off, weave in ends.

Rnd. 5-8: Ch 2, hdc in same st as join and in each st around, join with a sl st in top of beg. ch (48 hdc)
