Pencil Can Cover

Small amount of yarn color of choice
Can 4 inch diameter (This pattern used a Large Whole Kernel Corn can washed and dried)
Any size can, will work just adjust the bottom circle before round 4 working in back loops only.
Round chains count as first stitch
SC= Single Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
SL ST = Slip Stitch
CH = Chain
BL LP = Back Loops
Chain 6 slip stitch together to form ring.
Round 1: Chain 1 work 11 single crochets into ring. (12 sc)
Round 2: Chain 2, double crochet in same stitch, 2 DC in each sc around. Join with sl st. (24)
Round 3: Chain 2, double crochet in same stitch, DC in next stitch, 2 DC in next stitch repeat around. Slip stitch together (36)
Make sure it will cover the complete bottom of can at this point. Round 4 is the start for sides.
Round 4: Working in back loops only for this round. Chain 2 work DC in each DC of previous round. Slip stitch together. (36)
Rounds 5-12: Chain 2 work DC in each DC of previous round. Slip stitch together. Change color for rows 7-9 if you want two colors and work one round of second color before attaching fun fur.
If can is taller continue the rounds until it reaches top.
Round 13: Trim – Chain 1 single crochet in same stitch. Skip one stitch, shell (4DC in same space) in next stitch, and skip next stitch single crochet in next stitch skip next stitch, shell in next stitch, skip next stitch repeat around. Join with slip stitch of beginning chain 1. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Optional Trim: Add fun fur – Attach fun fur and double crochet around fasten off and weave in ends.
