Rosewood 12 Inch Square

This square starts out with the 6 inch Cotton Candy Square that was incorporated into the CWU and AC Group Mystery Blanket CAL. I have added some unique rounds and made it into Block 20, a 12 inch square for The 2015 American Crochet Afghan CAL.
Yarn: Caron Simply Soft 4 oz/113 g/204 yds/186 m color Rosewood
Hook: Brittany H
12 inches square
Ch/chs = chain/chains
Dc = double crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
Sc = single crochet
Sl st = slip stitch
Sp/sps = space/spaces
St/sts = stitch/stitches
Tr = Triple Crochet
Extended Mesh Stitch (EMS): Go HERE for stitch tutorial
Puff Stitch: (Yo, insert hook into indicated st or sp, yo and pull up a loop enev with the hook) 4 times (9 loops on hook) yo and draw through all 9 loops on hook, ch 1 to close (1 puff st made)
I used one color Rosewood for my square. I have put color changes at the ends of rounds if you would like to use more than one of your colors for this square.
Rnd 1: Ch 7, (trc, ch 2 in first ch) 11 times; join with sl st in 5th ch of the initial ch 7 (4th ch visible from bottom so that you have a ch-2 sp). (12 ch-2 sps)
Rnd 2: Sl st into first ch 2 sp, ch 3 (Counts as first st), work 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc into same sp; 2 dc in next 2 sps; * (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in the next sp); 2 dc in next 2 sps *; rep from * to * twice; join with sl st in the top of the beginning Ch 3. (44 sts) Fasten Off & Change Colors
Rnd 3: Ch 5 (counts as a dc and ch2), sk next 2 sts, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in corner ch 1 sp, * (Ch 2, sk next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts) twice, ch 2, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in corner ch1 space, * repeat from * to * twice; ch 2, sk next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts, ch 2, sk next 2sts; dc in next st, join with a sl st in top of ch 3. (64 sts) Fasten Off & Change Colors
Rnd 4: Slip st to next space; Ch 3, dc in same space, ch 2, sk next 2 sts, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner sp, * ( Ch 2, sk next 2 sts, 2 dc in next sp) 3 times, ch 2, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner sp * repeat from * to * 2 more times, (Ch 2, sk nxt 2 sts, 2 dc in next sp) twice; ch 2; join with a sl st in top of ch 3. (80 sts)
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in next dc, dc in ch 2 sp, dc in next 2 dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner sp,* dc in next 2dc, (2 dc in next ch 2 sp, dc in next 2 dc) 3 times, 2dc in next ch2 sp, dc in next 2 dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner sp, * repeat from * to * 2 more times, (dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in ch 2 sp) 3 times; join with a sl st in top of ch 3. (22 dc each side and 4 ch 2 sps total 88 sts) Fasten Off & Change Colors
Rnd 6: Attach yarn to any ch2 corner space. Ch2 (counts as 1 dc), (dc, ch2, 2 dc) into corner space; ch1, sk next st, * EMS in next st, ch1 *; repeat from * to * to next corner; (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch2 space; ** ch1, sk next st; (EMS in next, ch1) to next corner space; (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch2 sp; repeat from ** once; ch1, sk next st; (EMS in next, ch1) to beg ch2, sl st to top of beg ch2. (10 EMS; 11 ch 1 spaces, on Each side 16 dc, 4 x ch2 spaces – total stitch count = 108)
Rnd 7: Ch 2 (counts as 1 dc), dc in next st, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) into corner ch 2 space; dc in each top of EMS from prev rnd, and also in each ch1 space to next corner space; rep from * twice; (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch2 space; dc in each top of EMS from prev rnd, and also in each ch1 space to beg ch 2; sl st to beg ch 2. Fasten off & Change Colors. (29 dc each side = 129 dc & 4 x ch2 spaces)
Rnd 8: ch 1 (does not count as st), * puff st, ch 1, sk 1 st * repeat from * to * to corner ch 2 sp (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner sp **, repeat from * to ** , repeat from * to * to beginning puff st sl st in top of puff st to join (16 puff sts each side, 4 ch 2 sps)
Rnd 9: ch 2 (counts as 1st dc), dc in next ch 1 sp, * dc in top of each puff st and ch 1 sp around putting (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each corner ch 2 sp (35 dc each side = 140 dc and 4 x ch 2 sps)
Fasten off and weave in ends
