Today’s Guest Post is brought to you by Joanita @ Creative Crochet Workshop, exclusively for American Crochet
The most important part of any journey starts at the beginning…
and to be able to knit you need to know how to cast on your stitches!
Why I am starting this expedition:
I was taught how to knit and to crochet by my Grandmother – crochet caught on…
knitting did not! Knitting just took too long! Your project would take forever to take shape
and in most cases with me when it did…it was the wrong shape.
I just did not have the patience and that is funny, because if you can crochet a hundred odd granny squares and then whip them up all together to create a blanket – isn’t that patience??
My crochet has increased in level and skill and I am hooking with one needle (hook) like never before! This has motivated me to give knitting a second chance…to try and see how far I can take two needles…or how far they can take me!
Join me as I travel a road long left unexplored.
Discover, learn and knit with me!
This is the way I was taught to cast on stitches – I have created a step by step photo tutorial to simply show the way that I create my stitches.
There are a lot of other ways to cast on! Check below for more links and helpful resources.
Join me next week as we are going to learn the simplest stitch of all – The Knit Stitch!
Plus there will be a beginner’s pattern available on my blog (Creative Crochet Workshop)
to help you (and me) practice this stitch 🙂
