Crochet Fundamentals ~ How to Hold the Crochet Hook
~ Different Ways to Hold the Crochet Hook~
Holding the Hook
Try these methods and see which one works the best for you. Find a position that is comfortable and easy to work with.
Hold the hook like a pencil, in your right hand (if you are right-handed), about 3-5cm from the hook end. If your hook has a flat area, you will find it comfortable to hold it here.
Hold the hook between your thumb and forefinger, about 3-5cm from the hook end, resting the end of the hook against your palm. This will give you tons of control.
I use the Pencil Method when crocheting regardless of the hook that I am using or the stitch that I am working.
Now that you have seen two different methods on how to hold your crochet hook, which method do you use? Is that method comfortable? Do you tend to swap methods depending on the type of hook and/or stitch that is being worked?
