~INTERLOCKED CROCHET ~
The “Interlocked Crochet” is a very interesting design. The texture of the crocheted piece is very open because of the loops. This design uses the basic crochet stitches such as, chains, single crochet, slip stitches, and half double crochet. The trick of the design is the placement of the beginning of each row so that it falls correctly in the pattern.
My friend and fellow crochet designer Rhelena at http://crochetncrafts.com/ has a great photo tutorial on this using the half double crochet for her stitch; which can be found at http://crochetncrafts.com/how-to-crochet-interlocked-stitches/.
I used Bernat Handicrafter Cotton in Smoky Skies and Calico to work up this design. Making a chain is the first step and weaving into your base. You alternate crocheting in the chain, on the front and back side of your previous row to establish the interlock design. Take a few minutes and check this tutorial out.
