Level of Difficulty – Intermediate Yarn – Red Heart With Love; Pewter (Color A) and Hot Pink (Color B) – roughly 2,220 yards total. Hook and Notions – Size Hook: J (6mm), scissors, blunt needle Measurement 48-inches wide x 50-inches long (without border) 49 ½ -inches wide x 51 ½ -inches long (Finished) Gauge – 6 hdc + 4 rows = 2-inches Abbreviations Ch = chain Sc = single crochet Hdc = half double crochet Dc = double crochet BLO = back loops only Special Stitches Long dc = Long double crochet stitch. Inserting the hook from the top to the bottom in the front loop only of the indicated stitch 3 rows below. Always skip the single crochet behind every long double crochet. Notes Chain 1 at beginning of rounds does not count as a stitch. Change color after every wrong-side row. Turn Row 4: Chain 1, sc in each stitch across. Fasten Off; Change to Color B Row 5: Chain 1, sc in the first sc, long dc in each of the next 2 stitches 3 rows below, * sc in the back loop only of each of the next 8 sc, long dc in each of the next 2 stitches 3 rows below, repeat from the * across, ending with a sc in both loops of the last stitch. Turn Row 6: Repeat Row 4. Turn Fasten Off; Change to Color A Rows 7-10: Repeat Rows 3 – 6 for the pattern. Ending with Hot Pink Fasten Off; Change to Color A Always work in front of the chain 2 space and chain 4 spaces of the previous 2 rows. Turn Fasten Off; Change to Color A Row 19: Chain 1, sc in the first 2 sc, * chain 2, skip the next sc, sc in each of the next 2 sc, dc in each of the next 2 skipped stitches 3 rows below, sc in each of the next 2 sc, chain 2, skip the next sc, sc in each of the next 3 sc, repeat from * across. Turn Row 20: Chain 1, sc in the first 3 sc, * chain 2, skip the next chain 2 space, sc in each of the next 6 stitches, chain 2, skip the next chain 2 space, sc in each of the next 2 sc, repeat from the * across. Turn Fasten Off; Change to Color B Row 21: Chain 2, hdc in each stitch and work 2 hdc in ch 2 space, across. Turn Row 22: Chain 2, hdc in each stitch across. Turn Row 23: Chain 3, dc in the next 3 stitches, * chain 3, skip next 3 stitches, dc in the next 3 stitches, repeat from * across, ending with dc in last 2 stitches. Turn Fasten Off; Change to Color A Row 24: Chain 3, dc in the next 2 stitches, * chain 3, skip next 3 stitches, dc in the next 3 stitches, repeat from * across, ending with dc in last 3 stitches. Turn Fasten Off; Change to Color B Rows 25-30: Repeat Rows 23 and 24 (remember to change colors where stated) Fasten Off; Change to Color A Rows 31: Chain 3, hdc in each stitch and work 3 hdc in ch 3 space, across. Turn Rows 32-41: Chain 3, hdc in each stitch across. Turn Repeat Parts 1-4, 2 more times. Fasten off.   Border Attach Color B in any corner space Round 1: Chain 2 (see notes), hdc in same stitch, hdc down the side, * working hdc in ends of rows, where there is a dc place, work 2 hdc to eliminate the gaps, at corner work (2 hdc, ch1, 2 hdc), work hdc in each stitch across the end, * repeat from * to * around, work (2 hdc, ch 1) in the same corner space as the 1st 2 hdc; join with a slip stitch in the top of the 1st chain 2. Fasten off Color B, attach Color A. Round 2: Chain 3 (see notes), sc in the next stitch, * dc in the next stitch, sc in the next stitch, * repeat from * to * to the next chain 1 space of the corner, work corner (2 hdc, ch 1, 2 hdc), repeat from * to * to the next corner, work corner. Repeat 3 times, join with a slip stitch in the top of the chain 3. Fasten Off and weave in ends.
