WIP Wednesday: Two Crochet Baby Blankets in Progress

Happy WIP Wednesday, friend! Grab your hook and settle in — it’s time for another WIP Wednesday. If you’ve been following along on Instagram or caught my latest email, you may have already spotted a little sneak peek of what’s been on my hook lately. Today I’m sharing a little more of the story behind both projects, and I have to warn you — both of them are extra special to me right now.

What Is WIP Wednesday?

Every Wednesday I share whatever crochet projects are currently in progress in my craft room — no finished glamour shots, just honest behind-the-scenes updates on the yarns I’m loving and the stories behind why I’m making what I’m making. It’s one of my favorite things to share, because crochet is so much more than the finished piece.

This week I have two baby blankets on my hook, both from collections I’ve been quietly developing for a while now. Let’s dive in.

This Week’s Crochet Works in Progress

1. Stitched With Love Baby Blanket

Stitched With Love Collection · Coming soon to the shop

My granddaughter was born on May 2nd, and I am completely in love. I started her blanket back in February, pouring every stitch full of love and prayer before she even made her debut.

This blanket is part of my Stitched With Love Collection, and it is worked in a C2C construction using Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in a variegated rainbow pastel colorway. The yarn is soft and cozy, with a beautiful texture to it, and I love the way the colors flow together. It’s the perfect blanket for my sweet girl.

Once this blanket is finished and tested, it’ll be heading to the shop. I think you’re going to love it. ????

2. Garden Grace Collection — First Pattern

Garden Grace Collection · Coming soon to the shop

I am so excited about this collection. The Garden Grace Collection has been living in my heart for a while now, and actually seeing it come to life — one hexagon at a time — is such a good feeling.

The first pattern is a joined hexagon baby blanket, and I am just in love with how it’s coming along. I’ve got hexagons scattered all across my craft room table right now, and I love watching it come together piece by piece. There’s something so satisfying about joined construction — every hexagon you add makes the blanket feel more and more real.

I cannot wait to show you the finished piece.

A crochet hook, scissors, greenery, and decorative figurines are styled around the blanket. Mistie Bush / American Crochet branding in the lower left corner.

Why I Design Baby Blanket Patterns

Baby blankets hold a special place in my heart — they were one of the first things I ever crocheted after my grandmother taught me at 15, and they’ve been part of my design work ever since. There is something about crocheting for a new little life — or designing something you know is going to end up wrapped around someone precious — that just fills you up in the best way.

Both of these patterns are being designed with you in mind too. Once they’re finished and fully tested, they’ll be available in the American Crochet shop, ready for you to make for the little ones in your life.

I’ll keep sharing updates on both of these as they come together, so make sure you’re following along! And if you’re looking for your next project in the meantime, the shop has plenty of patterns ready and waiting for you.

Until next Wednesday — happy crocheting, friends.
