Happy Hookin!
XO, Mistie
Lucy Eadie says
I was pretty much up to date on mine & then I lost the plot, so I undid the whole lot and started again, so before it happens again, I’m using a different colour on each row, is it necessary to turn when indicated.
Mistie Bush says
Hi Lucy,
Yes, you should turn when indicated…there are some rows that state “do not turn”. Let me know if you need more help.
Have a great day!
Mistie
Cathy says
I’ve completed the row of shells and they are puffing out. Am I doing something wrong or is this part of the texture of the blanket?
Mistie Bush says
Hi Cathy,
It’s okay if the shells puff out some. 🙂
Have a lovely evening!
Mistie
Robin Cooper says
I am going to try this in a one solid color. I was given two Pound of Love in Bubble Gum. So far its looking pretty good. Is anyone else using only one color?
Paula says
I love it. Look forward to many more!
Cheryl says
I have a question on row 4. I changed colors through the last 2 loops of the previous row, then I turn and chained 1. I have 165 stitches on row 3. Do I start the first sc in the last dc of row 3? Counting forward, that might give me 3 stitches at the end instead of two. Should my end of row be shell, skip 2, sc, sc?
Mistie Bush says
Hi Cheryl,
Yes, sc in the first st (double crochet). Let me know if you have anymore questions. 🙂
Have a lovely day,
Mistie
Jessica GH says
I was wondering if it’s possible to start with a double crochet chainless foundation of 165 instead of chaining 166 and double crocheting into the back bumps. Thanks!
Mistie Bush says
Hi Jessica,
Yes, that is fine. Look forward to seeing your progress.
Have a great evening,
Mistie

Error in Part I – referencing skipped space in R1 should be R2 (found by Kathy K)
Mistie Bush says
Hi,
Thanks for stopping by. I’m really not sure what you are referring to. R1 doesn’t mention a skipped space – you are working in the Back Bump all the way across. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Thanks,
Admin
Mary Werner says
Rows 3: (I used Wine) ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), tr in dc beneath the ch1sp (the one you skipped in R1) * dc in next dc, tr in next sk dc of r1, * across; 1 dc in the top of the turning ch. turn [165]
I noticed this too, I think she means Row 3 directions. The R1 and the r1 should be R2
Christina says
I can’t tell from the picture but does the row of shells bubble out? Mine is bubbling put quite a bit.
Mistie Bush says
Good morning Christina,
Thanks for writing. My shells bubble out some as well. If they are bubbling a lot then it could be your tension.
Have a lovely day,
Mistie
Elizabeth Kennedy says

dee says
How many colors are you going to use for the whole afghan.
Only two?
Total amount yards needed.
I would like to use yarn from my stash.
and need a ball park est.
Mistie Bush says
Hi Dee,
I am using two colors to make my blanket. It’s really up to you on how many colors are used. You will need roughly 2900 yds. I hope this helps you out. 🙂
Have a lovely day,
Mistie

There appears to be two forum groups on Ravelry for us. One of them is called: “Colourful CAL’s/KAL’s & Projects Group” and the other is called “Crochet With Us!
I’d really appreciate it if you’d let me know which is the “official” and/or correct group.
Thanks.

Melanie says
dc in 3rd bb from hook (sk 2 ch count as 1 dc) and in 1 dc in each bb across; turn [165]
Are we skipping 2 chains or skipping 1 and chaining 2?
Mistie Bush says
Hi Melanie,
You are skipping 2 chains. The two chains that you skipped will count as one double crochet. Hope this helps.
Have a lovely day,
Mistie
kidiekat says
I am lost on this issue also. When I skip 2 and continue with dc I end up with a whole for the skip. Am I over thinking this?
Mistie Bush says
Hi,
Just to be clear which row are you working on?
Thanks,
Admin
Nancy Lovell says
What will this look like? I need to know so I’ll have the correct yarn. We live way out in the country
Mistie Bush says
Hi Nancy,
At this point you can see my six rows. The next six rows & image will be posted on the 21st. Hope this helps.
Have a lovely evening,
Mistie
amy says
Hi Mistie
Will you be writing the entire pattern yourself or have you invited other designers to join you on this journey? Just wondering if all the sections will be free and will remain free throughout the year.
Mistie Bush says
Hi Amy,
Several designers and I have teamed up to bring our fans this CAL. All sections will remain free on each of our blogs.
Thanks,
Mistie
amy says
thank you for your quick response, Mistie. I do have one follow up question. Will the ‘sections’ of 6 rows be interchangeable. Example… If I am completely stumped by rows 61-66 and simply cannot proceed, can I replace rows 60-66 with rows 7-12? Or if I want my blanket to be 6 feet or 72 inches instead of 60 inches, could I repeat a few of my favourite sections at the end to increase the length? I know for square motifs, more could always be added, or a swapped out for another. Thanks again. Looking forward to starting this weekend. Solid colour for me, it’s going to be a wedding gift, so I want something neutral.
Jacqueline says
I am using a siz 5.5mm hook and a size 4 yarn but my finished width is 41″ after 2 rows!!! What am I doing wrong?
Mistie Bush says
Hi Jacqueline,
I don’t think you are doing anything wrong. It could be that you crochet tightly.
Have a great evening,
Mistie
Jacqueline says
Not working tight, I bought a UK Size 4 yarn and just been told I should have have bought a Size 6!!! So mine will be smaller, unless you can tell me the pattern repeat and I will adjust my width. Thank you
CraftySS says
Hi I’ve just joined the CAL I just want to know at which row you changed color to wine
Mistie Bush says
Hi,
I changed the color to wine on row 3.
Have a lovely day,
Mistie
Jackie says
I have some questions that I didn’t answers to on the introduction page for this CAL. Could you let mek now if you could answer the below? Thank you.
What is the overall size of the finished blanket?
How many rows total will there be?
Will they always be given in 6 row increments?
Mistie Bush says
Hi Jackie,
Estimated Finished Size: (depending on your yarn choice and gauge) 52 inches wide and 60 inches long plus edging. Yes, each post will include 6 rows. I hope that helps.
Have a great day,
Mistie
Linda Mullett says
I am confused about when to change colors
Mistie Bush says
Hi Linda,
It’s really up to you on when you change colors. I changes colors on rows 3-6. Hope that helps.
Have a lovely day,
Mistie
Barbara says
I am in the England what yarn is used is it the same as our DK if so is it a 4mm hook or is it Aran yarn and a 5.5mm hook
Mistie Bush says
Good Morning Barbara,
The Aran yarn is equivalent to #4 worsted weight yarn that we used. You will need a 5.5mm hook. I hope this helps.
Have a lovely day!
Mistie
Barbara says
I cannot get much Aran so I am going to try it with DK on a smaller hook and see what I get
