Bernard Square

Bernard Square is the 18th square in the Riverwood Square Crochet Along Series! Make several of this square to make a blanket or use it for other projects. Enjoy!

Instructions
COLORS: A – VIP; B – Suede; C – Polo; D – Linen

Working with Color A
Chain 4 (See Notes), slip stitch to form a ring
Round 1: Chain 4 (See Notes), *dc, chain 1,* repeat around 11 more times; join with a slip stitch into 3rd chain of chain 4. (12 dc, 12 ch 1 sps) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color C in any chain 1 space.

Round 2: Chain 3 (See Notes), dc in same space, *work 3 dc in each chain 1 space around, join with a slip stitch in 1st dc. (24 dc) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color B in any space between 2 dc set.

Round 3: Chain 2 (See Notes), work (dc, tr) in same space, *work (hdc, dc, tr) in space between next 2 dc,* repeat from *to* around 11 more times, join with a slip stitch in 1st hdc. (36 sts) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color A in any hdc.

Round 4: Chain 1 (See Notes), sc in same stitch, sc in next 2 stitches, *(working behind RND 3) dc in skipped dc on RND 2, sc in next 3 stitches, repeat from *to*; join with a slip stitch in 1st sc. (12 dc, 36 sc) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color C in any stitch Back Loop Only.

Round 5: Chain 2 (See Notes), *FLO hdc in next stitch, BLO hdc in next stitch,* repeat from *to* around; join with a slip stitch in 1st BLO hdc. (24 BLO hdc, 24 FLO hdc = 48 sts) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color B in any stitch.

Round 6: Chain 3 (See Notes), work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into same stitch as join, (FIRST CORNER), *chain 3, skip next 3 stitches, sc in next stitch, chain 3, skip next 3 stitches, sc in next stitch, chain 3, skip next 3 stitches, work Corner (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next stitch,* repeat from *to* around 2 more times; join with a slip stitch into 3rd chain of chain 3. (4 corners, 8 sc, 12 ch 3 sp) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color A in any chain 2 Corner space

Round 7: Work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) into same corner space, *dc into next 3 dc, work 4 dc into next chain 3 space, dc in next sc, work 5 dc into the next chain 3 space, dc in the next sc, work 4 dc into next chain 3 space, dc into next 3 dc, work Corner,* 2 more times; join with a slip stitch into 1st dc. (21 dc on each side = 84 dc & 4 Corners) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color C in any chain 2 Corner space

Round 8: Chain 1 (doesn’t count), *work corner (See Notes), BLO dc in each dc across,* repeat from *to* 3 more times; join with a slip stitch in 1st dc. (16 dc, 25 BLO dc = 100 BLO dc, 4 ch 2 spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color B in any chain 2 Corner space

Round 9: Chain 1 (doesn’t count), *work 3 hdc in the corner chain 2 space, hdc in each stitch around,* repeat from *to* around; join with a slip stitch in in top of 1st hdc. (128 hdc) Fasten off and weave in ends.
