Kailey Circle in A Square is the 21st Square in the Squaring The Circle CAL 2018! Please help me and other ladies welcome Kailey to the group. She is fun, quick and easy to stitch up. This square can also be used for other projects and will always be available. I hope that you are still enjoying this Squaring The Circle CAL with me.

Corner – work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc)

Special Stitches

CLUSTER: Work 3DCtog (work 3 double crochet together)

  • Yarn Over hook insert hook into the next stitch in the row.
  • Yarn Over and draw through the first 2 loops on the hook.
  • Yarn Over insert our hook and draw through the loop, you should have 4 loops on your hook.
  • Yarn Over draw through the first 2 loops only and you should have 3 loops on your hook.
  • Yarn Over and insert hook and draw through that will give you 5 loops on your hook.
  • Yarn Over and draw through the first 2 loops. That will leave you with 4 loops on your hook and will leave 3 have finished double crochet sts.
  • Yarn Over and draw through all 4 loops on the hook.
  • Secure the cluster with a chain stitch.

BPDC – back post double crochet
Step 1: yarn over on hook.
Step 2: Insert hook into hole next to the post of the next stitch, on the “hook side” from back to front
Step 3: Bring the hook back to the back of the fabric around the post, to the hole farther from the hook.
Step 4: yarn over and draw through a loop, bringing it through both sides of the fabric. (3 loops on hook)
Step 5: yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook. (2 loops remaining on hook)
Step 6: yarn over and draw through remaining 2 loops on hook.

FPDC – front post double crochet
Insert your hook into the front of your work, behind the indicated stitch, and then through your work such that your hook is now at the front of your work again. Pull through final 2 loops on your hook.

Working With A
Chain 4, slip stitch to form a ring
Round 1: Chain 4 (Counts as dc, chain 1),
* dc, chain 1, * repeat around 11 more times;
join with a slip stitch into 3rd chain of chain 3. (12 dc, 12 ch 1 sp)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join B with a Slip Stitch into any chain 1 space

Round 2: Chain 6 (Counts as tr & ch 2),
* tr in next chain 1 space, chain 2, *
repeat from * to * around;
join with a slip stitch in the 4th chain of the chain 6. (12 tr, 12 Chain 2 sp)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join C with a slip stitch in any chain 2 space

Round 3: Work 3 dc into same space, chain 3,
work 3dctog into next chain 2 space,
work 3 dc into next chain 2 space, *
repeat from * to * around;
join with a slip stitch in 1st sc. (6 groups of 3 dc, 6 – 3dctog, 12 chain 3 sps)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join A with a slip stitch into 1st dc of any 3 dc group

Round 4: Chain 3 (Counts as 1st dc),
dc in next 2 dc,
* chain 2, work CL (See Special Stitches) into next chain 3 space,
chain 2, work CL (See Special Stitches) in next chain 3 space,
chain 2, dc in next 3 dc, *
repeat from * to * around;
join with a slip stitch in the into 1st dc. (12 CL, 18 dc, 18 ch 2 sp)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join B with a slip stitch into any 1st dc of any 3 dc group

Round 5: sc in same stitch as join,
FPdc around next dc, sc in next dc,
* sc in the chain 2 space, sc in top of next CL,
sc in next chain 2 space, sc in top of next CL,
sc in next chain 2 space, sc in next dc,
FPdc around next dc, sc in next dc, *
repeat from * to * around;
join with a slip stitch in top of top of 1st BLO hdc. (6 FPdc, 42 sc)

Join C with a slip stitch in any FPdc

Round 6: Chain 3 (Counts as DC),
work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into same FPdc as join (FIRST CORNER),
* chain 3, skip next 3 stitches,
sc in next stitch, chain 3, skip next 3 stitches,
sc in next stitch, chain 3,
skip next 3 stitches,
work Corner (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next stitch, *
repeat from * to * around 2 more times;
join with a slip stitch into 3rd chain of chain 3. (4 corners, 8 sc, 12 ch 3 sp)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join A in any Chain 2 corner space

Round 7: Work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) into same corner space,
* dc into next 3 dc, work 4 dc into next chain 3 space,
dc in next sc, work 5 dc into the next chain 3 space,
dc in the next sc, work 4 dc into next chain 3 space,
dc into next 3 dc, work Corner, * 2 more times;
join with a slip stitch into 1st dc. (21 dc on each side = 84 dc & 4 Corners)

Join B in any Chain 2 corner space

Round 8: Chain 1 (doesn’t count),
* work corner (See Notes),
BPdc around each dc across, *
repeat from * to * 3 more times;
join with a slip stitch in 1st dc. (16 dc, 25 BPdc = 100 BPdc, 4 ch 2 spaces)

Join A in any Chain 2 corner space

Round 9: Chain 1 (doesn’t count),
* work 3 dc in the corner chain 2 space,
BPdc around each BPdc and dc, *
repeat from * around;
join with a slip stitch in in top of 1st dc. (29 BPdc, 12 dc)
