Dc = double crochet
FPdc = front post double crochet
BPdc = back post double crochet
Sp = space
Special Stitches

Cross Stitch

Work 1 dc in indicated stitch, crossing in front of dc just made, work 1 dc in last skipped stitch.

BPDC – back post double crochet
Step 1: yarn over on hook.
Step 2: Insert hook into hole next to the post of the next stitch, on the “hook side” from back to front
Step 3: Bring the hook back to the back of the fabric around the post, to the hole farther from the hook.
Step 4: yarn over and draw through a loop, bringing it through both sides of the fabric. (3 loops on hook)
Step 5: yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook. (2 loops remaining on hook)
Step 6: yarn over and draw through remaining 2 loops on hook.

FPDC – front post double crochet
Insert your hook into the front of your work, behind the indicated stitch, and then through your work such that your hook is now at the front of your work again. Pull through final 2 loops on your hook.

INSTRUCTIONS

Working With A

Ch 4, slip stitch to for a ring
Round 1: Ch 4 (counts as a dc and ch 1),
* dc, ch 1, * repeat around 11 more times;
join with a slip stitch into 3rd chain of chain 3. (12 dc, 12 ch 1 spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join B with a Slip Stitch into Chain 1 space

Round 2: Chain 1 (doesn’t count),
work 2 dc into chain 1 space,
* chain 1, work 2 dc into next chain 1 space, *
repeat from * to * around;
slip stitch into the top of the 1st dc.  (24 dc, 12 ch 1 spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join C with a slip stitch into any dc after a chain 1 space.

Round 3: Chain 1 (doesn’t count),
* work sc in same dc, sc into next dc,
skip chain 1 space, work 1 FPdc around RND 1 dc, *
repeat from * 11 more times;
join with a slip stitch into 1st sc. (24 sc, 12 FPdc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join A with a dc into any sc BEFORE previous FPdc

Round 4: Chain 1 (See Notes),
work 1 dc in the sc before sc you just worked in,
chain 2, * work Cross Stitch into next 2 sc, chain 2, *
repeat from * to * 10 more times;
join with a slip stitch in top of 1st Cross Stitch. (12 Cross Sts & 12 ch 2 sp)

Join Color B in any chain 2 space

Round 5: Ch 1 (doesn’t count),
work 3 hdc in same space as join,
* chain 2, work 3 hdc in next chain 2 space, *
repeat from * to * 10 more times;
join with a slip stitch in top of 1st dc. (36 hdc, 12 ch 2 sp)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Squaring

Join C into any chain 2 space

Round 6: Chain 3 (counts as dc),
work (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc] into same space as join,
* chain 3, dc in next chain 2 space; once more,
work corner, * 2 more times;
join with a slip stitch into 3rd chain of chain 3. (4 corners, 12 ch 3 sp, 8 dc)

Join in any ch 3 corner space

Round 7: Chain 1 (doesn’t count),
* work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) into corner,
dc into the next 3 dc, work 4 dc into next chain 3 space,
dc into next dc, work 5 dc into chain space,
dc into next dc, work 4 dc into next chain 3 space,
dc into next 3 dc; repeat from * 3 more times;
join with a slip stitch in the 1st dc. (25 dc on each side = 100 dc & 4 ch 2 sp)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Round 8: Chain 1 (doesn’t count),
* work corner, BPdc around each dc across, *
repeat from * to * 3 more times;
join with a slip stitch in 1st dc. (16 dc, 25 BPdc = 100 BPdc , 4 ch 2 spaces)

Round 9: Chain 1 (doesn’t count),
* work 3 dc in the corner chain 2 space,
BPdc around each BPdc and dc, *
repeat from * around;
join with a slip stitch in in top of 1st dc. (29 BPdc, 12 dc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
