I designed the Periwinkle Scarf crochet pattern for the 2018 Yellow Rose Fiber Fiesta. I had so much fun designing this lace scarf and the Blueface Luster hand spun yarn was a delight to work with. It’s designed for those cool breezes and changing seasons, it’s a must have accessory that’s easy to make and elegant to wear.

Hook and Notions

  • Size Hook: I (5.5 mm) &  J (6 mm), scissors, blunt needle and stitch markers (optional)

Measurement

  • 8 inches wide
  • 48 (54, 60) inches long

Gauge

  • 6 V sts = 4” on Round 4

Abbreviations

  • ch – chain
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • Sk – skip
  • Sp – space

Scarf Pattern Notes

  • Weigh your yarn cake: ________ grams

  • Worked from side to side

  • 250 (290, 325) yards. I used #4 Worsted weight handspun (all yardage is based on 48” scarf once blocked) I did block the original scarf since I used handspun.

  • This scarf measures (6” wide x 41” long unblocked) 8” wide x 48” long

  • Because I am a tight crocheter I used the J crochet hook to chain with, so the chain isn’t too tight. This will also keep it from buckling. If you crochet loosely then you really shouldn’t have to go up a hook size when chaining. Rule of thumb always check your gauge.

  • This scarf is made in 3 different lengths. Image is displaying a 8” wide x 48” long scarf before blocking.
  • Chain 3 at beginning of row counts as a double crochet unless otherwise stated.

Finishing

You will evenly sc along both sides of the scarf. Please note you will not be working a sc along the ends.  Once you have evenly sc along one side of the panel, fasten off. Now you will evenly sc along the other side of the scarf. Do Not Fasten Off.

Now you will work the crab stitch along both sides and ends. You may wish to go down a hook size when working the crab stitch to make the edging look neater.
