Pilot Square

Pilot Square is the 14th square in the Riverwood Square Crochet Along Series! Make several of this square to make a blanket or use it for other projects. Enjoy!

Chain 2 at beginning of round counts as a hdc unless otherwise stated.

Instructions

COLORS: A – VIP; B – Suede; C – Polo; D – Linen

Working with Color C
Chain 4 (See Notes), slip stitch to form a ring
Round 1: Chain 4 (See Notes), * dc, chain 1, * repeat around 11 more times; join with a slip stitch into 3rd chain of chain 4. (12 dc, 12 ch 1 sps) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color A in any chain 1 space.

Round 2: Chain 4 (See Notes), dc in same space, work V Stitch in each chain 1 space around; join with a slip stitch in 3rd chain of the beginning chain 4. (12 V sts) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color B in any chain 1 space of V Stitch.

Round 3: Chain 4 (See Notes), dc in same space, * chain 1, work V stitch in next V stitch, * repeat from * to * around; join with a slip stitch in 3rd chain of beginning chain 4. (12 V sts, 12 ch 1 sps) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color A in any chain 1 space of V Stitch.

Round 4: Chain 3 (See Notes), dc in same space, * work 2 tr in chain 1 space of RND 3 (See Notes), work 2 dc in chain 1 space of V stitch, * repeat from *to* around; join with a slip stitch in 1st dc. (24 tr, 24 dc) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color A in any stitch.

Round 5: Chain 2 (See Notes), hdc in each stitch around; join with a slip stitch in 1st hdc. (48 hdc) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color B in any stitch.

Round 6: Chain 3 (See Notes), work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into same stitch as join, (FIRST CORNER), * chain 3, skip next 3 stitches, sc in next stitch, chain 3, skip next 3 stitches, sc in next stitch, chain 3, skip next 3 stitches, work Corner (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next stitch, * repeat from * to * around 2 more times; join with a slip stitch into 3rd chain of chain 3. (4 corners, 8 sc, 12 ch 3 sp) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color C in any chain 2 Corner space

Round 7: Work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) into same corner space, * dc into next 3 dc, work 4 dc into next chain 3 space, dc in next sc, work 5 dc into the next chain 3 space, dc in the next sc, work 4 dc into next chain 3 space, dc into next 3 dc, work Corner, * 2 more times; join with a slip stitch into 1st dc. (21 dc on each side = 84 dc & 4 Corners) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color B in any chain 2 Corner space

Round 8: Chain 1 (doesn’t count), * work corner (See Notes), BLO dc in each dc across, * repeat from * to * 3 more times; join with a slip stitch in 1st dc. (16 dc, 25 BLO dc = 100 BLO dc, 4 ch 2 spaces) Fasten off and weave in ends. Join Color A in any chain 2 Corner space

Round 9: Chain 1 (doesn’t count), * work 3 hdc in the corner chain 2 space, hdc in each stitch around, * repeat from * to * around; join with a slip stitch in in top of 1st hdc. (128 hdc) Fasten off and weave in ends.
