Robin Circle in A Square is the 22nd Square in the Squaring The Circle CAL 2018! Please help me and the other gorgeous ladies welcome Robin to the family. She is fun, quick and unique to stitch up. Special Stitches

CLUSTER: Work 3DCtog (work 3 double crochet together)

  • Yarn Over hook insert hook into the next stitch in the row.
  • Yarn Over and draw through the first 2 loops on the hook.
  • Yarn Over insert our hook and draw through the loop, you should have 4 loops on your hook.
  • Yarn Over draw through the first 2 loops only and you should have 3 loops on your hook.
  • Yarn Over and insert hook and draw through that will give you 5 loops on your hook.
  • Yarn Over and draw through the first 2 loops. That will leave you with 4 loops on your hook and will leave 3 have finished double crochet sts.
  • Yarn Over and draw through all 4 loops on the hook.
  • Secure the cluster with a chain stitch.

BPDC – back post double crochet
Step 1: yarn over on hook.
Step 2: Insert hook into hole next to the post of the next stitch, on the “hook side” from back to front
Step 3: Bring the hook back to the back of the fabric around the post, to the hole farther from the hook.
Step 4: yarn over and draw through a loop, bringing it through both sides of the fabric. (3 loops on hook)
Step 5: yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook. (2 loops remaining on hook)
Step 6: yarn over and draw through remaining 2 loops on hook.

FPDC – front post double crochet
Insert your hook into the front of your work, behind the indicated stitch, and then through your work such that your hook is now at the front of your work again. Pull through final 2 loops on your hook.

COLORS: A – White; B – Sea Foam; C – Charcoal

Working With A
Chain 4, slip stitch to form a ring
Round 1: Chain 4 (Counts as dc, chain 1),
* dc, chain 1, * repeat around 11 more times;
join with a slip stitch into 3rd chain of chain 4. (12 dc, 12 ch 1 sp)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join B with a Slip Stitch into any chain 1 space
Round 2: Chain 4 (Counts as 1st tr),
* hdc in next dc, tr in next chain 1 space, *
repeat from * to * around;
join with a slip stitch in the 4th chain of the chain 6. (12 tr, 12 hdc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join C with a slip stitch in any TR
Round 3: Chain 6 (Counts as 1st dc & chain 3),
* skip next stitch, dc in next stitch, chain 3, *
repeat from * to * around;
join with a slip stitch in 1st dc. (12 dc, 12 chain 3 sps)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join A with a slip stitch in any skipped hdc on RND 2. Be sure you’re working in front of RND 3
Round 4: Chain 3,
work 2dctog CL in same stitch as join (Counts as 1st 3dctog CL),
* chain 1, BLO hdc in next dc, chain 1, work CL, *
repeat from * to * around;
join with a slip stitch in the top of 1st CL. (12 CL, 12 BLO hdc, 24 ch 1 sps)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join B with a slip stitch into any chain 1 space between CL and hdc
Round 5: dc in same chain 1 space,
* dc in next chain 1 space, chain 2,
skip CL, dc in next chain 1 space, *
repeat from * to * around;
join with a slip stitch in top of top of 1st dc. (24 dc, 24 ch 2 sps)

Squaring

Join C with a slip stitch in any chain 2 space
Round 6: Chain 3 (Counts as DC),
work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into same chain 2 space as join (FIRST CORNER),
* chain 3, skip next 2 stitches,
sc in next chain 2 space, chain 3,
skip next 2 stitches, sc in next chain 2 space,
chain 3, skip next 2 stitches,
work Corner (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next stitch, *
repeat from * to * around 2 more times;
join with a slip stitch into 3rd chain of chain 3. (4 corners, 8 sc, 12 ch 3 sp)

Join A in any Chain 2 corner space
Round 7: Work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) into same corner space,
* dc into next 3 dc, work 4 dc into next chain 3 space,
dc in next sc, work 5 dc into the next chain 3 space,
dc in the next sc, work 4 dc into next chain 3 space,
dc into next 3 dc, work Corner, * 2 more times;
join with a slip stitch into 1st dc. (21 dc on each side = 84 dc & 4 Corners)

Join B in any Chain 2 corner space
Round 8: Chain 1 (doesn’t count),
* work corner (See Notes),
BPdc around each dc across, *
repeat from * to * 3 more times;
join with a slip stitch in 1st dc. (16 dc, 25 BPdc = 100 BPdc, 4 ch 2 spaces)

Join A in any Chain 2 corner space
Round 9: Chain 1 (doesn’t count),
* work 3 dc in the corner chain 2 space,
BPdc around each BPdc and dc, *
repeat from * around;
join with a slip stitch in in top of 1st dc. (29 BPdc, 12 dc)
