Sue Circle in A Square is the 10th Square in the Squaring The Circle CAL 2018! She is quick and easy to make and is gorgeous just like the rest of her sisters. You can stitch her up in an hour! This square can also be used for other projects and will always be available. Enjoy!

Abbreviations
Ch/chs = chain/chains
Dc = double crochet
FPdc = front post double crochet
BPdc = back post double crochet
Sp = space

Special Stitches
BPDC – back post double crochet
Step 1: yarn over on hook.
Step 2: Insert hook into hole next to the post of the next stitch, on the “hook side” from back to front
Step 3: Bring the hook back to the back of the fabric around the post, to the hole farther from the hook.
Step 4: yarn over and draw through a loop, bringing it through both sides of the fabric. (3 loops on hook)
Step 5: yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook. (2 loops remaining on hook)
Step 6: yarn over and draw through remaining 2 loops on hook.

FPDC – front post double crochet
Insert your hook into the front of your work, behind the indicated stitch, and then through your work such that your hook is now at the front of your work again. Pull through final 2 loops on your hook.

Working With A

Ch 4, slip stitch to for a ring
Round 1: Chain 4, * dc, ch 1,
* repeat around 11 more times;
join with a slip stitch into 3rd chain of chain 3. (12 dc, 12 ch 1 spaces)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join B with a Slip Stitch into any chain 1 space

Round 2: Dc in same chain 1 space as join,
* FPtr around next dc, dc in next chain 1 space, *
repeat from * to * around;
join with a slip stitch in top of 1st dc. (12 dc, 12 FPtr)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Join C with a slip stitch in any FPtr

Round 3: Chain 1 (See Notes),
hdc in the same FPtr as join,
* chain 3, skip next dc, hdc in next FPtr, *
repeat from * to * around;
join with a slip stitch into top of 1st Cluster. (12 hdc, 12 ch 3 sp)

Join A with a slip stitch in any chain 3 space

Round 4: Chain 4 (Counts as 1st tr),
work 2 tr in same chain 3 space,
* chain 1, skip next hdc, work 3 tr in the next chain 3 space, *
repeat from * to * around;
join with a slip stitch in the top of the chain 4 (1st tr). (36 tr, 12ch 1 sps)

Join B with a slip stitch into any TR

Round 5: Chain 1 (See Notes),
BPhdc around same tr as join,
BPhdc around each of the next 2 tr, *
FPdc around previously skipped hdc,
BPhdc around each of the next 3 tr, *
repeat from * to * ;
join with slip stitch into top of 1st dc. (36 BPhdc, 12 Fpdc)

Join C with a slip stitch in any FPdc

Round 6: Chain 3, work (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into same FPdc as join,
* chain 3, sc in next FPdc, chain 3,
sc in next FPdc, chain 3,
work Corner (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc), *
repeat from * to * around 4 more times;
join with a slip stitch into 3rd chain of chain 3. (4 corners, 8 sc, 12 ch 3 sp)

Join A with a slip stitch in any Corner Chain 2 space

Round 7: Chain 1 (See Notes),
work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) into same corner space,
* dc into next 3 dc, work 4 dc into next chain 3 space,
dc in next sc, work 5 dc into the next chain 3 space,
dc in the next sc, work 4 dc into next chain 3 space,
dc into next 3 dc, work Corner, * 2 more times;
join with a slip stitch into 1st dc. (25 dc on each side = 100 dc & 4 Corners)
