Level of Difficulty – Beginner
Yarn – Yarnspiration’s Lily Sugar’n Cream #4 Medium Worsted, 100% Cotton, 57 g/86 m/95 yds/2 ozs 1 ball Beach Ball Blue Ombre
Hook and Notions – Size Hook: H/8 (5.0mm)
Measurement – Laying flat width 11 inches, height 11 inches
Gauge – 8 stitches and 7 rows = 2 inches
Abbreviations
Ch/chs = chain/chains
Sc = single crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
BLO = back loop only
FLO = front loop only
Sl st = slip stitch
Sp = space
Special Stitches
FHDC – (Foundation Half Double Crochet) Chain 2, yarn over, insert hook into first chain (2nd from the hook), yarn over, pull up through the first loop on the hook (this is your first chain loop). With 3 loops on hook, yarn over, pull through 3. * Yarn over, insert your hook into the first chain loop, yarn over, pull up a loop (this is your second chain loop), yarn over, pull through 3. 2 fhdc completed. Repeat from * until you reach the desired number of fhdc.
Notes –
- Start with Bottom Border and work up. First 4 and Last 4 stitches on each side are the side borders, finish with top border. All borders are worked through both loops.
- Chain 1 at beginning of rows does not count as 1st sc throughout unless otherwise stated.
- Chain 2 at beginning of rows counts as 1st hdc throughout unless otherwise stated.
- Wave is worked in back and front loops only.

FHDC (See Special Stitches) 44
Bottom Border
Row 1: Chain 2 (see pattern notes) work hdc in each stitch across. Turn (44 hdc)
Rows 2-4: Repeat Row 1
Body of cloth (See pattern notes)
Row 5: Chain 1, work sc in the same stitch as chain 1,
work sc in the next 3 stitches, skip the next stitch,
working in BLO * sc in the next 2 stitches,
work 3 sc in the next stitch, sc in the next 2 stitches,
skip the next 2 stitches. * repeat from * to * across to the last 5 stitches,
skip the next stitch, work sc in the last 4 stitches. Turn (5 waves)
Row 6: Chain 1, work sc in same stitch as chain 1,
work sc in the next 3 stitches, skip the next stitch,
working in FLO * sc in the next 2 stitches,
work 3 sc in the next stitch, sc in the next 2 stitches,
skip the next 2 stitches, * repeat from * to * across to the last 5 stitches,
skip the next stitch, work sc in the last 4 stitches. Turn (5 waves)
Rows 7-26: Repeat Rows 5 & 6
Row 27: Chain 1, work sc in the same stitch and in each stitch across. Turn (44 sc)
Rows 28-30: Repeat Row 27
Fasten off and weave in ends.
