Nugget Cozies ~
Free Crochet Pattern
These Nugget Cozies are quick and easy to make. They fit the Starbuck Venti (24 oz, Grande 16 oz, and tall 12 oz). They are made using cotton yarn so that they absorb the moisture and keep your hands dry.

Level of Difficulty – Beginner/Intermediate
Materials – Peaches and Cream, Worsted Weight #4 Cotton, 2 oz/56.7 g/95 yds/86 m, color #14738, a little over 1 ball to make all three
Sinfonia 100% Mercerized Cotton, Sport Weight #3, 3.52 oz/218 yds/100 g/200 m, color #C-859 Matizado Rosas approximately 3/4 skein to make all 3 cozies
Hook and Notions – Hook: G (4 mm) & H (5 mm), scissors and yarn needle
Laying Flat Venti: tall 8 inches width 4 ¼ inches, Grande tall 6 inches width 4 inches, tall 4 ½ inches width 4 inches
Gauge – Not important for this project
BLO = back loop only
Ch/chs = chain/chains
Dc = double crochet
Dc cl = double crochet cluster
Hdc = half double crochet
Sc = single crochet
Sl st = slip stitch
Sp/sps = space/spaces
St/sts = stitch/stitches
YO = yarn over
Double Crochet Cluster Stitch (DC CL) also Double Crochet 3 Together Stitch (DC3Tog)
YO hook insert hook into the indicated stitch. YO and draw up a loop, YO and draw through the first 2 loops on the hook. YO insert our hook in same st and draw through a loop; you should have 4 loops on your hook. YO draw through the first 2 loops only and you should have 3 loops on your hook. YO and insert hook same stitch and draw through that will give you 5 loops on your hook. YO and draw through the first 2 loops. That will leave you with 4 loops on your hook. YO and draw through all 4 loops on the hook. Secure the cluster with a chain stitch.
- Chain 1 at beginning of rounds does not count as stitch.
- Round 4 is worked BLO
Bottom for all size cups
Chain 3; join with slip stitch in the first chain to form circle.
Round 1: Chain 1 (see notes), work 8 hdc in the circle; join with a slip stitch in the first hdc. (8 hdc)
Round 2: Chain 1 (see notes), work 2 hdc in the same stitch as the join and in each stitch around; join with a slip stitch in the first hdc. (16 hdc)
Round 3: Chain 1 (see notes), hdc in the same stitch as join, * work 2 hdc in the next stitch, work 1 hdc in the next stitch, * repeat from * to * around; join with a slip stitch in the first hdc. (24 hdc)
Round 4: (Working in BLO – see special stitches) Chain 1, hdc in the same stitch as join and in each stitch around; join with a slip stitch in the top of the first hdc. (24 BLO hdc)
Top of all size cups
Round 5: Ch3, dc in the next stitch, * chain 1, skip the next stitch, work cluster in the next stitch, skip the next stitch, dc in the next 3 stitches, * repeat from * to * around. (you should have 1 dc before joining in top of ch 3)
Round 6: Chain 3, dc in each stitch and space around. (24 dc)
Repeat Rounds 5 and 6 till it measures length needed
Round 7: Chain 2, hdc in each stitch around. (24 hdc)
Venti: 5 rnds clusters, 5 rnds dc
Grande: 3 rnds clusters, 4rnds dc
Tall: 2 rnds clusters, 3 rnds dc
Using G Hook and Sinfonia Mercerized Cotton
Measurements – Laying Flat after placing on cups: Venti: length 8 inches width 4 ¼ inches, Grande length 6 inches width 4 ½ inches, tall length 5 inches width 4 inches
Venti: 7 rnds clusters, 8 rnds dc
Grande: 5 rnds clusters, 6 rnds dc
Tall: 4 rnds clusters, 5 rnds dc
