I designed this simple cuddly Tunisian Hugs Lovey for my charity Crafting A Rainbow Of Hope! This simple Tunisian lovey makes for a great baby gift. It would also make for a comforting, huggable, lovey for a small child undergoing treatment. You can find more of my baby patterns >>HERE<< Enjoy! Pattern Notes Queue & Favorite on Ravelry! In this picture I used Red Heart Baby Hugs #4 light yarn. Color A – Peachie and Color B – Dolphine; roughly 300 yards You will go back and forth on your work and never turn. The right side of your work is always facing you. These will be called The Forward Pass and The Return Pass. The Forward Pass you will be working right to left and the Return Pass you will work left to right. Closing the stitches: Unless otherwise instructed, all rows are closed with a typical Tunisian crochet closing as follows: chain 1, (yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook) across. One loop remains on your hook. Video Tutorials if available will be on my You Tube Channel – Subscribe to my You Tube Channel! Tunisian Hugs Lovey | American Crochet @americancrochet.com

Special Stitches Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS): Insert hook in a side-to-side motion under the front vertical bar, yarn over, pull up a loop. Base Row: To start any piece you will need to set up your work and create a base row. It is worked in two stages. First, make a base chain consisting of the required number of stitches less 1. So, if, for example, you need to create a row of 10 stitches, you will only need to chain 9, since the loop on the hook is counted as the  first stitch. Work a Forward Pass and a Return Pass, Set-up row complete. Forward Pass: Turn your chain around to expose the back ridges (bumps behind each chain). Starting from the first ridge from the hook, pick up loops in each of the chains. Working in the back ridge of each chain, rather than the front loop, will create a nice line of “V’s” at the bottom edge. Return Pass: Yarn over and pull through ONE loop (i.e. simply chain 1) to work off the very first loop on the hook. Yarn over and pull through TWO loops on the hook to work off the next loop. Continue yarning over and pulling though TWO loops for the rest of the loops.
