REQUIREMENTS

Level of Difficulty Advanced Beginner Yarn What colors? Whatever your heart desires. You can use multiple colors, a solid color or a gradient of sorts. The only requirement is your colors make you happy. ? You can work with my suggested yarn and color or select your own yarn and colors! However, depending on the weight of the yarn will depend on how defined your stitches are. Hooks and Notions Hooks: I (5.5mm), scissors, tape measure and blunt yarn needle Measurement 40 inches – using dreamy yarn. Gauge Mine is 12 hdc + 2 rows = 4-inches (beginning of blanket) using the Red Heart dreamy yarn Abbreviations – US Terminology Ch/chs = chain/chains Sc = single crochet Hdc = half double crochet St(s) = stitch(s) Dc = double crochet Tr = treble crochet sc3tog = single crochet 3 together BPdc = back post double crochet FPdc = front post double crochet

Pattern Notes Queue & Favorite on Ravelry! Chain 1 at beginning of row does NOT count as a stitch I used 3 colors of Red Heart Dreamy #4 yarn. You do not have to use 4 colors. You can use as little or as many colors as your heart desires. The only requirement is your colors make you happy. ? You may use any size yarn and the recommended hook size. However, depending on the weight of the yarn will depend on how defined your stitches are. If your yarn suggests using a I hook, then that’s what you will use. UNLESS you crochet to tight or to loose. Then you may want to adjust your hook size accordingly. Chain 3 at beginning of row does counts as a stitch.

Because I am a tight crocheter I used the J crochet hook to chain with, so the chain isn’t to tight. This will also keep it from buckling. If you crochet loosely then you really shouldn’t have to go up a hook size when chaining. Rule of thumb always check your gauge. **If you choose to use Red Heart dreamy try not to make an oopsy as this yarn is not as forgiving when ripping out. My suggestion to you is be really careful when ripping out otherwise you will have a bigger mess than you’d like.** Special Stitches Not for this part of the Happy Throw Video Tutorials if available will be on my You Tube Channel – Subscribe to my You Tube Channel!

Instructions

COLORS: A – Dark Taupe; B – Ivory; C – Rose *Here I decided to not change colors* I am still working with Color C. If you changed colors no biggie. Rows 52-56: Chain 1, sc in same stitch, sc in each stitch across. Turn (120 sc) Fasten off Color C and attach Color B NOTE *If you changed colors at the end of Row 51 then your color change would be different than mine.* Row 57: Chain 1, sc in same stitch, *(See Notes: Spike Stitch) Step One: work long sc in the next stitch, 1 row below your current row, Step Two: work long sc 2 rows below your current row, Step Three: work long sc 3 rows below your current row, Step Four: work long sc 4 rows below your current row. Working back up, from Step Three to Step One. This sequence completes one repeat of the stitch pattern. Work the following to repeat the stitch pattern across the blanket. (sc in the next stitch, work long sc in the next stitch, 1 row below your current row, work long sc 2 rows below your current row, work long sc 3 rows below your current row, work long sc 4 rows below your current row, work long sc 3 rows below current row, work long sc 2 rows below current row, work long sc below current row) repeat from (to) across to the last stitch, work a long sc 1 row below current row. (120 sts) Fasten off Color B and attach Color A Rows 58-62: Chain 1, sc in same stitch, sc in each stitch across. Turn (120 sc) Fasten off Color A and attach Color B Row 63: Repeat Row 57 (120sts) Fasten off Color B and attach Color C Rows 64-65: Chain 1, hdc in same stitch, hdc in each stitch across.
